Zoom, a popular platform for video calls at work, is set to undergo significant changes with the integration of artificial intelligence (AI). This marks the first major overhaul in over a decade for the tech company’s flagship product. The implementation of AI aims to address common user complaints and enhance the video-calling experience for users.

The recent launch of Zoom Workplace, an AI-powered collaboration platform, has introduced a range of new features to improve productivity and teamwork. Users can now select from four color themes and enjoy customizable meeting backgrounds for a more immersive experience. Moreover, the introduction of a multi-speaker view places active speakers on a virtual stage while other participants are displayed in a traditional gallery view underneath, encouraging more engaging discussions.

In addition to visual enhancements, Zoom Workplace offers practical features like document collaboration, allowing users to import and co-edit documents during meetings seamlessly. The platform also introduces portrait lighting powered by AI to illuminate users’ faces in low-light conditions and suppress background noise for clearer audio during loud environments such as offices or cafes.

Furthermore, Zoom has introduced dynamic reactions that enable users to express themselves using enhanced emojis during calls. The platform now includes new collaboration tools like the Meetings tab where users can access meeting-related resources such as PDFs and videos. The Meeting Event hub consolidates all shared information post-meeting, ensuring easy access to recordings and chat summaries.

For seamless communication post-meeting, Zoom incorporates continuous meeting chat functionality that automatically shares meeting recaps in Team Chat. This feature enhances user experience by providing quick access to assets, summaries, and more within the chat interface. Additionally, new generative AI capabilities within Zoom AI Companion facilitate thread summaries, sentence completions, and quick scheduling options within Team Chat.

To benefit from these enhancements on Zoom Workplace, account owners and users are advised to update their Zoom app to version 6.0.0 or download the latest update from Zoom’s website. Notably, Zoom AI Companion is included at no extra cost for customers with paid services linked to their accounts.

Overall, these advancements powered by AI demonstrate Zoom’s commitment to revolutionizing virtual collaboration experiences by leveraging technology to cater to user needs effectively.
