Title: Qualcomm Unveils Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 Chipset With Advanced Ai Capabilities For Midrange Smartphones

Qualcomm Inc. has unveiled its latest chipset, the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3, bringing advanced generative artificial intelligence capabilities to midrange smartphones. With support for generative AI models like Llama 2, Gemini Nano, and Baichuan-7B, this new chip promises to power various applications based on these models. Additionally, Qualcomm boasts a 15% increase in CPU performance and a significant 45% improvement in GPU performance with this latest release.

Designed for midrange devices, the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 follows shortly after the launch of the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 aimed at higher-end smartphones. By incorporating many AI features from their flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip into a more affordable system-on-chip targeted at devices in the $800 to $1,000 price range, Qualcomm is expanding access to cutting-edge technology.

Improvements in processing speed, efficiency, connectivity, on-device generative AI capabilities, and enhancements to gaming and artistic photography are key highlights of the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3. The new chip features an enhanced Kyro CPU based on a 64-bit architecture with notable performance upgrades compared to its predecessor.

Notable enhancements include increased clock speeds and core speeds resulting in overall improvements in CPU processing and GPU performance. While the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 shares similarities with the higher-tier Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 concerning generative AI capabilities and support for multiple large language models, it does not feature real-time ray tracing support for graphics.

The chip also introduces new features such as support for advanced gaming functions like Post Processing Accelerator and Adreno Frame Motion Engine 2 to boost graphics performance and reduce battery consumption. It comes equipped with an innovative cognitive ISP enabling users to enhance their photos and videos through real-time edits.

Connectivity-wise, the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 supports Qualcomm’s new FastConnect system along with various tools such as Low Light Vision and facial recognition. With specifications including LPDDR5x memory support, UFS storage compatibility up to version 4.0, and enterprise-grade security features.

Although Qualcomm has not specified a launch date yet, reports indicate that OnePlus USA Corp. will be among the first companies to incorporate this cutting-edge chipset into their upcoming smartphones before it reaches other devices later this year.
