The City of Des Moines, Iowa, has appointed Jeffrey Wann as its new Chief Information Officer (CIO), succeeding his role as the former Chief Information Officer of Missouri. With a background steeped in IT infrastructure and applications, Wann’s responsibilities encompass overseeing Des Moines’ technological landscape including geographic information systems and enterprise software utilized by 17 different agencies within the city.

Expressing enthusiasm for his new role, Wann articulated his eagerness to contribute to the modernization efforts within Des Moines and cater to the needs of its sizable population. In his previous capacity as Missouri’s CIO, Wann spearheaded technology training for a substantial workforce of 40,000 employees and managed intricate enterprise technology systems.

Emphasizing the significance of implementing structured change management strategies during extensive IT transformations, Wann advocated for a methodical approach to avoid potential challenges inherent in such endeavors. Drawing from his diverse professional background that spans both public and private sectors, including roles at Illinois Mutual Life Insurance, the Internal Revenue Service, and the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, Wann brings a wealth of experience to his new position in Des Moines.
