The Future of Automotive Industry: Innovations in Salesforce’s Automotive Cloud

Achyut Jajoo, senior vice president and general manager of automotive and manufacturing at Salesforce, explained that Automotive Cloud will provide real-time digital views of connected vehicle features, services, and telemetry data. This enables automakers to combine this information with driver profiles to create personalized and connected car experiences.

The enhancements to Automotive Cloud benefit both automakers and fleet owners. Automakers can leverage Connected Vehicle Visualization to receive real-time visualizations of in-vehicle-connected features and services. This allows for tailored in-car experiences and notifications about emerging services or upgrades.

Through Actionable Telematics, automakers can monitor telematics data such as location, speed, fuel level, consumption, or battery health. This data can be used to automatically alert customers if anything unusual is detected within their vehicles.

Automotive Cloud utilizes Salesforce Data Cloud to unify real-time data from various sources. Additionally, automakers can develop custom artificial intelligence (AI) models using Einstein Studio. By combining connected car data with AI models through these cloud enhancements, predictive analytics becomes possible. Companies can use real-time data to make suggestions, such as recommending new vehicles for customers when their mileage reaches a specific number.

For fleet owners, the Fleet Management feature offers a holistic view of their fleet. This allows for the development of strategies based on driver behavior and prompt action on any maintenance alerts.

Finance teams also benefit from Automotive Cloud. The Captive Finance feature provides an overview of a driver’s auto finance portfolio, while the Loan and Lease Console brings automation and personalized updates to facilitate customer service provisions.

Investing in software-driven automotive solutions is crucial because the future market demands it. According to McKinsey, 95% of all new vehicles sold by 2030 will be connected cars, representing a 50% increase from 2021. The autonomous vehicle market is projected to generate $300-400 billion in revenue by 2035. It is clear that without cloud providers like Salesforce and AWS, achieving connectivity, real-time data insights, and intelligence at scale would not be possible.

With enormous opportunities for growth in this sector, the future of the automotive industry may become the next battleground in the ongoing cloud wars.
