The Annual 2023 Florida Authors and Publishers Association President’s Book Awards recently acknowledged Palm Coast resident Dr. Robert A. Ernst for his book, “Harry and the Kidnappers.” This children’s chapter book, which is part of the “Dr. Bob’s Tales” series, was recognized as a Gold Medal winner in the Children Grades 4-6 category and as a Silver Medal winner in the Children Grades 3-5 category.

The competition, open to books published between 2021 and 2022, had judges consisting of librarians, educators, and publishing professionals. The award aims to promote excellence in the publishing industry and recognize exceptional storytelling, bold concepts, and innovative ideas.

“Harry and the Kidnappers” highlights the significance of friendship and teamwork in overcoming challenges. Dr. Robert “Bob” Ernst emphasizes how grateful he is that his book has been considered one of the top books in its category in the U.S., mentioning his joy in bringing smiles to children’s faces.

Dr. Bob Ernst has written a total of four books so far, with three of them – “Hurry Up Harry,” “Harry and the Hooligans,” and “Harry and the Kidnappers” – receiving FAPA President’s Medals. Despite starting his writing career just six years ago after retiring as an orthodontist, Dr. Bob continues to create captivating stories at 84 years old.
