The latest mobile operating system, ColorOS 14, is set to make its way to Oppo phones worldwide. Based on Android 14, this new system will first arrive on flagship phones such as the Find N2 Flip and later on budget-friendly offerings like the Reno 10.
ColorOS 14 introduces several AI-powered features that are reminiscent of those found on Google’s Pixel 8. One notable feature is SmartTouch, which allows users to select and collect various types of content, such as text, images, and videos, and organize them on the File Dock or consolidate them into a single note using simple select and drag gestures. Another interesting addition is Smart Image Matting, which lets users crop multiple subjects from a single image or paused video.
On the privacy front, ColorOS 14 brings an AI-based feature called AutoPixelate. This tool automatically pixelates sensitive information like names and phone numbers before you share any screenshots with others. Oppo assures that it employs on-device processing and local image recognition technology to identify sensitive information within an image.
In terms of performance enhancements, Oppo highlights three main features in its Trinity Engine: ROM Vitalization, RAM Vitalization, and CPU Vitalization. The ROM Vitalization feature aids in memory optimization by compressing files and apps, potentially saving up to 20GB of space.
It’s worth noting that Oppo and OnePlus recently merged their resources in 2021, resulting in incredibly similar operating systems for both brands. Color OS 14 further emphasizes this amalgamation.
Design-wise, ColorOS 14 continues with the Aquamorphic aesthetic introduced in ColorOS 13. Taking inspiration from water elements, this design is already present in OxygenOS used in OnePlus phones. Additionally, ColorOS 14 introduces a fresh set of ringtones for calls, alarms, and notifications.
With its suite of AI-powered features and performance improvements, ColorOS 14 aims to enhance the user experience on Oppo phones. Whether you’re using a flagship device or a budget-friendly option, the latest mobile operating system from Oppo promises to deliver a seamless and feature-rich user interface.
