Amazon Reduces Price of One Medical Membership for Amazon Prime Subscribers

Amazon has announced a significant reduction in the cost of a One Medical membership for Amazon Prime subscribers. This move will decrease the annual fee by $100, making it $99 per year. In an effort to seamlessly integrate its chain of doctor’s offices with its retail services, Amazon continues to make strides in expanding its healthcare offerings.

In addition to its existing web pharmacy and telehealth service called Amazon Clinic, which assists with treating less serious conditions like pinkeye through third-party medical providers, Amazon is now testing the use of drones to deliver medications to patients’ doorsteps in under an hour. These developments come as part of Amazon’s ongoing efforts to revolutionize the healthcare industry.

As part of this new Prime One Medical membership benefit, subscribers will have unlimited access to 24/7 on-demand virtual care. This includes video chats with licensed providers who can provide prompt medical assistance within minutes. Virtual care services are available nationwide and do not incur any additional costs for members.

The acquisition of One Medical by Amazon was completed in February for approximately $3.9 billion. While One Medical operates physical clinics in 19 major U.S. cities, their telehealth business offers virtual services to reach a broader audience.

This acquisition adds to Amazon’s portfolio of major purchases, following the acquisitions of Whole Foods for $13.7 billion in 2017 and Hollywood studio MGM for $8.5 billion, which closed last year.

Amazon Prime subscriptions already offer numerous benefits such as streaming services and expedited shipping. With the addition of discounted One Medical memberships, subscribers can further enhance their healthcare options while enjoying the convenience and savings provided by Amazon Prime.
