A 33-year-old resident of Palm Coast, Kiarra S. Strickland, was recently arrested on charges of armed home invasion robbery. The incident occurred when Strickland entered her former boyfriend’s home and allegedly held him up at gunpoint before taking between $50 and $100. She then fled the scene with her three children in the car, dropping off at least one of them at school.

The victim, identified as J.W., provided an account of the incident to authorities. According to J.W., he had been in a relationship with Strickland and they lived together until September 2023 when she moved out. Since then, they had no contact with each other. J.W., who suffers from poor cardiac health and uses a battery-powered cardiac pump, unlocked the door for a friend on the morning of November 14. While using the bathroom, he heard the front door open and discovered that it was Strickland entering his master bedroom. He opened the bathroom door only to find Strickland pointing a silver handgun at him and demanding money. After informing her that he didn’t have any, she proceeded to take money from a dresser drawer and pointed the gun at him again before leaving in her Kia. J.W. noticed that her children were in the car during this time.

The incident was corroborated by an anonymous neighbor who witnessed Strickland park her Kia near their collective mailboxes, retrieve mail from one of the boxes, and remove a silver and black semi-automatic pistol from the car where her son was seated. The neighbor saw her enter and exit J.W.’s residence before speeding away.

Strickland’s son confirmed to deputies that she drove him straight to school, but his attendance pass indicated that he arrived later than claimed by his mother. This led to deputies visiting Strickland’s home at 9 Slumber Path where she was subsequently arrested on a warrant issued the day prior.

At this time, it is unknown what will happen to Strickland’s children. Typically, in such cases, the Department of Children and Families is notified to ensure their safety and make suitable arrangements.

Comments on the article express various views on the situation. Some commenters criticized Strickland for involving her children in criminal acts while others highlighted the need for judgment until more information is known. It’s important to remember that legal authorities will assess these matters during formal proceedings.

This incident serves as a reminder of the potential consequences of engaging in criminal behavior and the impact it can have on both individuals involved and their families.
