Google’s security keys have been available for a few years now, but the latest version unveiled at the Aspen Cyber Summit in New York City is set to replace the previous USB-A and USB-C Titan devices. The Titan Mark II distinguishes itself from earlier versions by providing passkey storage capabilities. This innovation streamlines the login process so that users only need to enter their username, plug in the key, and validate it with a PIN code (established via Chrome), bypassing the need for a password altogether.
This new Titan security key facilitates FIDO2 (Fast Identity Online) authentication and is compatible with all services that support this protocol, including those offered by third-party providers. Moreover, it boasts significantly expanded credential storage capacity, allowing users to store up to 250 account credentials compared to its predecessor’s limit of just 25 credentials.
